Ciara accomplishments during her career so far include getting 8 Billboard Hot 100 in the top-ten singles, including a number 1. The singer also earned numerous awards and accolades, such as 1 Grammy Award, 3 BET Awards, 3 MTV Video Music Awards and 3 MOBO Awards. Ciara sold over 7 million albums worldwide and more than 4.3 million albums and 6.9 million digital singles in the USA alone.

Ciara Brief History And Career Beginnings


Ciara is the only child of her parents Jackie and Carlton Harris. Her father Carlton Harris was in the United States Army, therefore throughout her childhood Ciara grew up on army bases in different places in the United States and Germany. During her teenage years Ciara and her family settled in Atlanta. Ciara got her inspiration to pursue a career in music from watching Destiny's Child and Janet Jackson perform on television. She said her biggest inspiration was Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson. She also recorded with Janet Jackson on Janet's 2008 album Discipline.

In the middle of her teenage years Ciara along with 2 of her friends formed the girl group Hearsay. The group recorded demos, but over time, they began to have differences and eventually broke up. However, Ciara was still continuing with determination to reach her goal and signed a publishing deal as a songwriter. Her first success was the song, "Got Me Waiting" for R&B singer Fantasia Barrino's debut album, Free Yourself. It was through writing songs she met music producer Jazze Pha, whom she called her. In 2002, the two recorded four demos which also appeared on her debut album which was released two years later, "1, 2 Step", "Thug Style", "Pick Up the Phone", and "Lookin' at You".



After graduating from Riverdale High School in Riverdale, Georgia in 2003, Ciara was signed by LaFace Records executive, L.A. Reid, whom she was introduced to by Jazze Pha. She began production on her debut album later that year. In early 2004, Ciara wrote a demo with record producer, Sean Garrett. The demo was later brought to the attention of Lil Jon and became her debut single "Goodies". Lil Jon stated later that he knew it would be big seeing how it sounded similar to Usher's international hit, "Yeah".
