Selena Gomez father is from Mexican ancestry and her mother is part Italian. She got her name from singer Selena, who died almost three years after Gomez was born. When Selena was 5 years old her parents divorced. She was raised as an only child by her mother. Selena said her interest for acting developed at a young age from watching her mother prepare for and act in theater productions.

Selena first acting role was in 2002 when she played Gianna on Barney & Friends. She later played small roles in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over and TV films Walker, Texas Ranger: Trial By Fire and Brain Zapped. Gomez was discovered by the Disney Channel in 2004.

Megan Fox was raised as a Roman Catholic. Her parents divorced when she was young, so she and her sister was raised by her mother and stepfather. Megan said her mom and stepdad were very strict and that she was not allowed to date or invite friends over to her place. Fox started training in drama and dance from the age of 5. When she was 17 years old she moved to Los Angeles.

Jennifer Lopez was born to Puerto Rican parents David and Guadalupe Lopez. She has an older and a younger sister. Jennifer's parents lived in a small apartment and few years after Jennifer was born they were able to purchase a two-story house. Lopez began taking singing and dancing lessons at the age  of 5.  She was also encouraged by her parents to sing and dance at home which her parents believe would help keep she and her siblings out of trouble. During her last year in high school Jennifer auditioned to play in a low-budget film 'My Little Girl' in 1986. She got the role to play Myra a young woman at a center for troubled girls.

After Lopez successfully acted in the film she realized she wanted to become a big movie star. Lopez told her parents her dreams but they doubted saying it can't happen. Lopez later moved to her own apartment in Manhattan where she performed in musicals  Jesus Christ, Superstar and Oklahoma. In 1991 Lopez got to work as as a Fly Girl dancer on the television comedy program In Living Color. She remained on the show until 1993. After leaving the show, Lopez became a backup dancer for Janet Jackson and appeared in Janet's video "That's the Way Love Goes".

Lopez then pursued her acting career and got professional roles in films such as Lost in the Wild (1993) and in 1994 she starred as Melinda Lopez in the CBS television series Second Chances and Hotel Malibu. She later got bigger film roles. In 1995 she starred in drama My Family and later starred in Money Train longside Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson.  In 1996, she won the chance to play a supporting role in Francis Ford Coppola's 1996 comedy 'Jack' starring Robin Williams. She then starred opposite Jack Nicholson in Bob Rafelson's well-received noir thriller Blood and Wine (1996). Lopez's first big break came in 1996, when she was chosen to play the title role in Selena, a biopic of the deceased pop singer Selena.

Demi Lovato was born to parents Patrick Lovato and Dianna Hart de la Garza. Her parents is of Mexican, Irish, and Italian descent. Demi has a sister older than her and a younger half sister. Demi stated she been through painful experience with bullying during the 7th grade in school which she said contributed to her unhealthy eating habit. She said she gave in to unhealthy eating to cope with depression and even once self-mutilated her wrists. Demi later spoke out in many places against bullying including in an appearance on CNN.

Demi began playing piano at the age of seven and also began acting at that same age on the children's television series Barney & Friends as Angela. She later guest starred on Prison Break as Danielle Curtin in the episode "First Down." She also appeared in the second season of the television sitcom Just Jordan as Nicole, in the episode "Slippery When Wet." In January 2007, she landed the role of Charlotte Adams on the Disney Channel Original Short Series, As the Bell Rings, which premiered on August 26, 2007.
